Ethyl Butylacetylaminopropionate cream can be used as an insect repellent against mosquitoes, deer ticks, body lice, and biting flies. Products containing this active ingredient are applied to exposed human skin.

The active ingredient, Ethyl butylacetylaminopropionate 12.5% w/w (IR 3535) is a technical grade synthetic biochemical that is produced by an integrated process. It is a substituted ß-amino acid structurally similar to naturally occurring ß-alanine. No harmful effects to humans or the environment are expected from this use of 3-[N-Butyl-N-acetyl] aminopropionic acid, ethyl ester.

Biochemical Description: In 1997, EPA-OPP's Biochemical Classification Committee classified IR 3535 as a biochemical, based on facts that it is functionally identical to naturally occurring beta alanine in that both repel insects, the basic molecular structure is identical, the end groups are not likely to contribute to toxicity and it acts to control the target insects via a non-toxic mode of action.

Assessing Risks to Human Health: IR 3535 has been used as an insect repellent in Europe for 30 years with no substantial adverse effects. Toxicity tests show that the IR 3535 is not harmful when ingested, inhaled, or used on skin. Eye irritation could occur if the chemical enters a person’s eyes. Any allergic reactions are required to be reported.

Assessing Risks to the Environment: Because the active ingredient is used only in products applied to human skin, no risks to the environment are expected.

Apply a thin layer of cream on the uncovered skin uniformly. For best result reapply in every 8 hours. Could be use in children of age over 2 months.

Usually well tolerated. Extremely low chance of any side effects.

Could be used for pregnant women and lactating mother.

For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not apply to lips, mouth, skin cuts and wounds.

Keep below 30°C temperature, away from light & moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
